What we commonly call the Yucatan Peninsula is actually composed of 3 states (Mexico is a federal republic) Campeche (south west), Yucatan ( north) Quintana Roo (southeast), the whole bounded by a white line visible on my map.
When we say "Holiday in Mexico", we generally think the beaches of the Yucatan and Quintana Roo (including Cancún or Playa del Carmen) I did not make any, except Tulum, because of the archaeological site ...
From Villahermossa (Where Park La Venta), I drove along the coast of Ciudad del Carmen (industrial city) in Campeche, it is a long monotonous road with virtually no tourist facility - for how long?
My only stop - except for a fish restaurant under a palapa (thatched roof) - is the Mayan site of Edzna.
